I’m glad that Author D. Kelley wrote this novella about Mike. I knew that Mike wasn’t as bad, as everyone though after reading the first book, because of this book now everyone gets to see Mike like I did.
Mike was just young, confused and hurt, when he lashed out on Kate. Yes that is no excuse, but it is the truth. He was in so much pain after losing his dad, that he was not thinking straight about anything. After losing his dad and his mom bad mouthing Kate, he couldn’t handle it. Instead of hanging on to Kate and apologize for the way he acted..he left instead. At that time, in his state of mind, that was the best for everyone. He found out later that it wasn’t, he stayed broken no matter what he did. You see from this book what Mike went through and what was going through his mind when his dad died and why he left Kate. Why he stayed hidden for so long and how much his new friendship and family means to him. You will realized that Mike is only human, that he went through waves of emotions and growing up while away from Kate. He just never figured that when he was ready to come back, that Kate would fall in love with someone else. To make matters worse, she fell in love with his best friend Daniel. The turmoil that Mike went through is really sad and heartbreaking knowing what he will do everything he can to make it all better. Reading Catching Kate, just confirmed what I already knew about Mike after reading Breaking Kate. He is a sweet, caring guy, just too broken after his dad died to be in love or to stay the Mike that he was for Kate. He had to grown up and learn life, to realized what he really wanted in life. Now he has to figure out what’s more important. To win Kate back, even if he could loose his best friend Daniel? Or give Kate and Daniel his blessings?..Until the next book..
