Wow! What an awesome book.
This story started a little rough. So anyone that cannot take a little graphic scene, this book is not for you. Yes it was a little hard to read the beginning of the book, but I stucked it out. This book turned into something beautiful, I’m glad I kept reading. This book is so good I had a hard time going to sleep, because I had work the next day..but I wanted to finish the book so bad. I read this book throughout all my breaks at work, I just could not put it down…it’s that good.

This story is about Erica, who was caught up in a lot of trouble for being at the wrong place and the wrong time. After witnessing a murder, Erica almost got herself killed. Instead she went through some pretty horrendous things, that changed her life forever. Then there’s Leo, who became her savior who never left her side. After years of being together like family in hiding, Slate came into the picture. At first I didn’t know what to expect with him, but once I kept reading and got to know him, I have to say wow. He is such a man, a man’s man. He is so much more than I can explain, he is such a beautiful man inside and out. The more I found out about Slate, the more I was in awe. I mean, wow, He was just so damn beautiful. I could not put the book down mostly, because of him. Yes you will also love Erica she is very fragile at first, but ends up being such a strong character. Then there’s Leo, he is also such a beautiful soul and funny. All these 3 characters are so strong, emotional and partly broken, but beautiful…they kept me reading. Leo is such a protector, he kept Erica grounded, but Slate is what brought Erica back to the person she used to be. I cannot explain or say enough about this book, to really express how much I love it. I almost didn’t read this book, but I gave it a chance and I am so freaking happy I did. As for Slate in now my newest book boyfriend. <3 him!
This book is so awesome, I cannot wait to read the 2nd book and get to know Leo a little more. Till then.

☆☆☆☆☆ 5 “Beautiful” Slate Stars ☆☆☆☆☆
“I want you. All of you. Not these little bits I hear echoing around the room. I just want you, Riley.”

Aly Martinez is now one of those authors for me that is an automatically must read and one-click. After reading my first book of Stolen Course, I was hooked with Aly’s amazing storytelling and writing. And let me tell you Among the Echoes is another amazing book. Aly will suck you in how eloquent and beautiful she was able to discuss a delicate subject of sexual abuse and yet weave it into a touching and moving storyline. Among the Echoes is not an ordinary romantic story. It isn’t a fairytale and a love that doesn’t always come easy. It’s a love that is overcoming obstacles, facing challenges, fighting to be together, holding on and never letting go. And in Among the Echoes, Ms. Martinez shows us a love that was consuming, moving, beautiful, sexy, raw, and pure.
I may still be breathing, but stripped of my identity, I have long since stopped living. I am invisible, and my life depends on my ability to stay in the shadow.

One fatal night, Erica Hill’s life was stolen from her. Witnessing a murder, she was held hostage and raped multiple times bound to a bed leaving her shattered and broken but luckily for her, Leo James was there to save her. Fast forward to three years later, Erica is still living in hell. Erica had to change her name to Riley Peterson and be put under the witness protection program. With her best friend, Leo by her side, Erica feels somewhat at ease and safe. But ridden with guilt after what he witnessed Erica had to go through, Leo goes out of his way to make sure Erica/Riley is safe from danger. But for Erica, the memories of the excruciating pain she endured being raped multiple times left her haunted with fears. Her anxiety have kept her from truly moving forward and living. But that all changes when she meets her new next door neighbor, Slate Andrews.
“Fuck your fairytale. I just want you. I’ll make my own God damn happily ever after. But you’re the one who is mistaken. You’ll be at the end of that story, beautiful. You either come willingly or you force me into the dark after you. It doesn’t matter to me, because either way, I’ll find you.”

When Slate meets Riley, there was something that made him want to reach out and help her. He was drawn to her. As he slowly befriends Riley, he knows that something tragic must have caused her to be skittish and fearful. Slowly, Slate forces Riley to let him in. Being the total sweetheart and protective alpha male, he tries to ease the pain and emotional baggage Riley/Erica is holding onto. When she finally let him in, Erica for the first time in years finally experiences happiness. With Slate by her side, walls of pain and anxiety are slowly torn down. When Erica finally found her safe haven in Slate, new danger lurks putting the safety of Erica at risk. So how far will Slate go to protect his new love?

Among the Echoes is one of those books that must be read and experienced. It is raw, gritty, and emotional. The storyline and writing will captivate you and you will not want to put this book down. Aly does remarkable job in showcasing a heroine’s journey in finding her inner strength, love, happiness, and hope. I absolutely love Slate and Leo. And I am so excited for Broken Course and can’t wait to read Leo’s story. <3 Among the Echoes was a great read so highly recommend you to go read it.

OMG! My heart broke for Erica Hill. She is scared and a walking jumpy woman. After the tragedy she had to endure, she's more cautious and freaked out because of it. What happened to her was so horrible that I can't even imagine myself going through that. You can totally feel her emotions from reading this. Being raped is terrifying and brutal.

Slate Andrews is a walking sex on a stick. Almost killed me with his charm. Sorry Erica, you're gonna have to just move over and let me ravage Slate.
Leo was a very protective man. Erica feels safer with him. Didn't matter how many miles they were apart, he just made her feel that way.

Leo has that guilt, he can't seem to shake. He's blaming himself from getting Erica hurt so bad when it could've been avoided as much as possible. It just haunts him, witnessing everything horrible that happened to Erica is unforgettable and unforgivable to him. All Leo wanted for Erica to have was someone who could protect her, a boyfriend or even a girlfriend be by her side. He just wants her to move forward.

This book was a page turner. At first it started kind of slow but after a couple chapters, it started to just go by quick. It makes you want to kill these bastards who hurt Lena. But having the two hotties makes an even more awesome read, knowing the fact that they are very protective of her. I can't wait to read Leo's story.
How can you move forward after having to go through such tragedy, that I don't think I can ever make myself forget, if I was in Erica's shoes? No matter what, it'll always be in the back of your mind, that this horrible, tragic, hurtful, unimaginable and gut wrenching passed, truly happened to you. Will Erica overcome this tragedy, with the help of these two hotties? You'll have read this heartbreaking story. Awesome job in pulling me in and just captivated my heart. I was holding my breath the entire read. Aly Martinez and I will be coming back for more.
