Breaking Kate started out with a very loving young couple Michael and Kate, until a tragic accident broke them apart. Michael’s dad ended up in the hospital and Michael’s mom blamed Kate for everything. After how bad his mom blamed Kate and her dad for it all, Michael started to believe what his mom said. Instead of talking everything out with Kate and trusting in her, he completely broke her heart and left her to pieces. At that time I was furious with Michael, for leaving. I mean, how can he leave sweet and honest, Kate like that? All she was with him was honest and loving and nothing he said to her she deserved. Even though I was mad at Michael I couldn’t hate him, I knew his young, confused and full of pride to take back what he did and said to Kate.
They both went through a few years of their life never giving their heart to anyone else. No matter how much Michael had hurt Kate, somehow she will always love him. As for Michael, nothing he said and did to Kate he meant, but he didn’t know how to take it back or to ask for forgiveness. Until he went further and further away from her and denied and push back everything he felt for her. Instead of dealing with his feelings, he kept them hidden and buried. Instead of finding a relationship, he rather have random women to please and nothing more. Not the same can be said about Kate. She kept to herself, yes she found her bestfriend Connor and stayed closed to Jess. Instead of finding someone new, she kept herself in her studies.
Until that one day when her best friend Connor set her up with his friend Daniel. When Kate and Daniel got together my heart drop. Yes, Daniel was sweet and a great guy, but he was too much too soon. Every scene that Daniel and Kate had together, was too sappy for me. I never felt connected to them, like I did with Kate and Mike. When it came to Kate and Mike it was sweet.
After everything that Kate had gone through, how is she going to choose?
Will she go back to Mike, the past she could never forget?
Or will she stay with Daniel?
Read and find out.
All in all, no matter how much Mike had messed up, my heart always belonged to him and I was rooting for his happily ever after. He was my favorite character in the book, because he was real. Mike was the reason I kept reading.
