Michael St. Claire just learned that the dad he grew up thinking was his father turned out to be someone else. And then to top if off, he was left brokenhearted when his friendships with his two best friends were severed. So when he moves and relocates to Texas to be close to his biological father, he plans to get close by flirting and gaining the attention of his half-brother, Devon's girlfriend, Kristin. But what he didn't expect was to befriend Kristin's younger sister, Chloe, who happens to have a big crush on Devon.
Chloe is the complete opposite of her big sister. She is fun, vibrant, and has a great personality. But the only thing that Chloe needs to work on was her self-esteem and to gain control of her life. And Michael St. Claire was the guy to help her when he decides to be her personal trainer and at the same time, help her get Devon. As Chloe and Michael's friendship begins to bloom, chemistry begins to ignites between these two. Feelings begins to emerge. So when Chloe finally catches the attention of Devon, will she choose to be with her long time crush? Or will she choose the guy who knew instantly she was beautiful from the beginning before she transformed into a swan?

CRUSHED is a modern, fun, fresh, and sassy take on the the ugly duckling and friends to lovers theme. If you want witty and smart banter and two beloved characters that stole your heart right off the opening pages then I highly recommend you to READ this book. For all you romance addicts, this book had all the elements that I loved and craved. How could you not love a book that leaves you with a big fat smile and the warm fuzzy feelings. The author did an amazing job in writing two fabulous main characters. Honestly, Ms. Layne was able to showcase the strong connection of Michael and Chloe. There was no doubt that these two had a deep and strong connection for one another. The chemistry was sizzling hot. Sparks were flying all over this book and I couldn't get enough of Chloe and her Beefcake. What I loved about this book was the message of this book that true beauty does not lie on the outside because true beauty is in the inside. And Chloe reminded us all that her beauty was not just physical but also lies in her beautiful and caring heart. There is not much to say but this is a MUST READ and I will be sure one-clicking Lauren Layne's books now.
