First and foremost, I must tell you that this is NOT a conventional love story with the normal happily ever after as most romance books are. Nope this book is simply about a woman cheating and having an affair with her husband's best friend. Yes, we can all judge and form our opinions and say what a whore and how could she do that. But as you read further along, readers learned that Kennedy Brooks is craving more. She wants rough sex and she seeks this pleasure from her husband's best friend. As much as she knows it is wrong, her justifications, morals, and reasoning are blurred by the sexual lust and desires she found with Dixon. As she and Dixon continues their secret love affair for months, feeling begin to intensify between them. Soon Kennedy finds herself torn in loving two men while her sweet loving husband gets betrayed by the two people whom he loved and trusted the most. So what happens when the truth is revealed? When the lies, deception, and hurt are exposed, can Gunner and Kennedy find a way to fix the sanctity of their marriage? Or is the cut and betrayal too deep for Gunner?
As much as I hated Kennedy, I couldn't stop reading and was just waiting to get to that part of the book where the train wreck awaits. Throughout this whole story, I will not lie but I hated Dixon and Kennedy. Personally, no matter what their justifications for their actions I just couldn't accept it because they say they don't want to hurt Gunner but never once did they felt the need to tell him the truth. There were plenty of times for Kennedy to tell Gunner but she never said anything. The only redeemable thing in this book was Gunner. His POV truly gutted me since I felt his hurt, pain, and betrayal to the core. So the most important question any romance aficionado wants to know is there a HEA? Yes, there is a HEA but it is not the ending I expected and wanted. So if you are looking for an unconventional love story with a different kind of HEA then I would suggest you give this book a try.
