“What we have is bigger than all of it. Forever, remember?”
I honestly don’t know where to start with this review. And I mean that in the most wonderful, awestruck way. So, let me start by stating the obvious, More Than Forever is the 4th book in the More Series by Jay McLean and tells the story of Lucy and Cameron. Now, let me continue.
I haven’t read all the books in the series and once I started with it, I was not able to stop. It took me about 3-4 straight days (with little to almost no sleep) to finish them all and catch up to the the series. I have no regrets. I absolutely LOVED it. And having read all books in less than a week, I found my favorite: More Than Forever.
While all 4 books made me cry buckets and all have beautiful stories of their own, Lucy and Cam’s was the one that made me fall in love, hurt, and then fall back in love with them in a heartbeat. Jay McLean has a magic touch in writing each story. She’s a magic, wonderful storyteller. She will you hook you right in, suck you in with her words and never let you catch up for air until the very end… and you won’t even notice it.
“I used to hold it all in, like you do. I kept it inside for so long that I felt like I was going to burst. It was constant -- this ache in my heart because I missed her so much.” Lucy and Cam’s story started from their teens -- a tragedy that opened doors for their friendship. A friendship that blossomed into a raw, beautiful, emotional love story. We’ve had glimpses of them from the first 3 books and we saw two young adults who are crazy, fun, but there was a sense of something more under the hilariously cute couple.

I loved everything about this book. I love all of the characters: Lucy’s dad and silly brothers, Cameron’s mom and her boyfriend, the entire More gang, and I love the story, I loved how Jay wrote it, how hypnotizing it was to read every word in the Luca story no matter how heartbreakingly painful or how diabetically sweet it was. I love Cameron and how fierce he is when it comes to Lucy. Reading about a 15-year old boy who only wants to care for someone special and her family in his own young ways, that is something precious. Seeing two teenagers grow as an individual and as a couple with all the bumps in life and coming out strong, with a few battle scars but strong and more resilient, was an emotional journey that’s admirable. For me, this is one of the reasons why Jay McLean’s writing is so heartfelt. She lays the foundation on solid ground, she makes sure that each characters are embedded so thoroughly in your heart, so that when even just a slightest bit of pain shows in the story… you feel it 110%. It will crush you, tear your heart out, make you feel the emotions.
But while I go on and on about how emotional Lucy and Cam’s story is, it’s not without a swoon-worthy and funny scenes. We’ve seen how nuts Lucy gets when she’s drunk, right? She says the craziest things and brings life and laughter to the group. I love reading the carefree side of the couple as much as I do their serious personalities. A perfect blend of a new adult romance! I look forward to Dylan and Heidi’s story, looks like another box of Kleenex, a huge bar of chocolates and warm blankets are needed for this story.
