After an IED explosion in Afghanistan took Asher’s hand and disfigured half of his face, he's lived a quiet life on the outskirts of Danvers where the locals respect his privacy…that is, until Savannah Carmichael comes calling in a borrowed sundress and a plate of homemade brownies. When Asher agrees to be interviewed by Savannah, he starts feeling things for the beautiful reporter that he hasn’t felt in years.
Misfits in small-town Danvers, Savannah and Asher create a bond right away, touching each other’s hearts in ways neither thought possible. When a terrible mistake threatens to drive them apart, they’ll have to decide if the love they found in one another’s arms is strong enough to fight for their hard-won happily ever after.

The Vixen and the Vet is about a journalist Savannah Carmichael and a wounded war veteran Asher Lee finding love.
The story starts with Savannah returning home to Danverns, Virginia. After her once promising career as a journalist came crumbling down, because of a bad source. After getting a call from Phoenix Times to jump start her career by writing a Human Interest piece, Savannah agreed. Which turned her interest on war veteran and town hermit Asher. Asher who went through an IED explosion in Afghanistan, which took his hand, an ear and disfigured half of his face. He has been living a quiet life in his own privacy, being left alone by the everyone. Until Savannah showed up at his door, Asher has sworn he was done with people. Done with life and being part of the outside world. At first Asher didn't agree to be interviewed by Savannah, until Ms Potts persuaded him to. Asher made an agreement with Savannah to be interviewed only if she comes on certain days at 4pm.
When Asher and Savannah started spending time with each other, they got the know each other completely. It didn't take long for them to fall in love, even with the condition Asher is in Savannah was crazy about him. Savannah got to know Asher for who he is, not what he looks like outside. What I love about this story is how beautiful Savannah and Asher love for each other. Katy wrote this book about love and beauty, that beauty goes skin deep. No matter what a person may look like outside doesn't matter, what matters most is what's within and that is Asher. Asher may not look perfect outside, but inside he is beautiful. A real man, a sweet man and his love go beyond anything. He is humble, giving and a real hero.
This story goes through ups and downs of Savannah and Asher finding their way with love. It sure is a beauty of a story. Read it and you will see.
I agree with other readers, this is by far Katy's best. I mean I love every book that Katy have ever written, but this one really does hold a special place in my heart. Another great book Katy, I love it.<3
