Hannah Walker has had a tragic childhood that haunted her and causing her to have nightmares for years. She has panic attacks and has closed herself off. She never took dating seriously and only focused with being a physical therapist. It helps the special kids who need special care and attention. She's one sweet girl who wants to help kids overcome their fear of riding horse of just to be able to interact in a therapeutic kind of way. Experiencing the tragedy she had endured is what pushed her to keep the farm.
Stephen McKinney was engaged to be married, but it never happened when she was followed from her night out with her friends. She was taken and murdered. This puts him on edge and all he wanted to do was to murder the man responsible for ending his fiancé's life. Fighting his demons was one of the battles he controlled by sleeping with numerous women and did not want to commit to anyone. Committing means you get attached and you give them your heart. He was done with that since he thinks his heart is cold and dead after the tragedy.
They both get a chance to meet and the sparks was instant. At first Stephen thought this would be just one of those one night stands, which was his norm. But for Hannah, what she wants is something he cannot give. She wants to have a regular life, to experience dating like a normal person. To step outside the box she built after the tragedy. She's tired of her family tip toeing around her. Stephen might be just the one thing she needs to heal but is he ready to commit once again? I loved every minute of reading and would go back and read it again.
