Island in the Sea: A Majorca Love Story by Anita Hughes had a love story set in the backdrops of Majorca, an island that I have always wanted to visit. In this sweet and charming tale, Ms. Hughes brings forth a story that weaves romance and a second chance at life.

I enjoyed this book but I didn’t love it. I found the story to be enjoyable in that readers are taken to Majorca where we are immersed with the sights, sounds, and smells of this island. But overall, I felt the author failed to showcase a developing love story. The love story was overshadowed by the excessive brand name dropping. Yes the story was light and enjoyable but for me to not connect with the characters was a big miss by the author in my opinion. Would this book deter me from reading other works for this author, absolutely not. So if you are looking for a light summer read, this book might be for you and who knows maybe you might find yourself wanting to visit Majorca, Spain.
