As the story goes back and forth from present to past, we get glimpses of how life was with Justin and Amelia as kids. They were the best of friends and inseparable. How close they were and what pulled them apart. Then going through their adult life with hate and love for each other. When Justin and Amelia are pushed to meeting in one place with so much memory of their childhood, they had to learn to tolerate each other. With each and every day that passes, feelings are shared and walls start to come down little by little. Will forgiveness happen and give way to their future together? Or apart?
I loved how Justin and Amelia’s story went back and forth to their childhood memories, their childhood together was so sweet and adorable. Once they have finally grown up, the sweetness started up and again. Justin may have started as an angry grump, but his sweetness came out little by little. He was not only an adorable man, but he will also melt any readers' hearts over and over. Maybe even make you SQUEEE. lol. I love this book, this very addicting book and with such addicting characters.

ROOMHATE was nothing like I expected. It’s a story between two childhood best friends. Inseparable in their teens; partners in crime. Both had to endure a heart-wrenching loss on a family. It’s a humorous love story, but there’s also a lesson to be learned. There’s so much sexual tension, bantering, and indecisiveness. And also some precious moments you wouldn’t want to pass up on.
Amelia has a mother who sleeps around shamelessly, which is the reason why she never knew who her father was. Her family is broken and only had her grandma Nana to look up to. But when a she loses Nana, her world shattered. Her grandma took in a little boy who is in the same situation as Amelia while she was alive, Justin Banks. He was treated as if he was Nana’s own, and became Amelia’s backbone. They did everything together just like siblings, but that didn’t last long…
Justin’s upbringing was not something he likes to talk about. But with Amelia, there were no secrets between the two growing up. If that’s what they both like to think. He was always into music. Loves writing lyrics and playing with his guitar. The songs he’s written were inspired by none other than his best friend. Pursuing his dream meant leaving behind the people he loves.
As they grew older, it was obvious that one would develop feelings for the other but Amelia never thought she would be the first. Or so she thought… He wasn’t supposed to fall for her… She’s sweet and innocent, and Amelia never thought that she could be his type. Their relationship is not something you can take mildly. It’s the type that no matter how many years apart they may have been, it can always be rendered, as if they never were miles away from each other. But both deny that fact, for two people determined to have it all, a hands-off arrangement can only last so long before one of them cracks. Especially with the huge anvil being dropped on them by Nana, they have no choice but to at least try to be civil. To try move past the hurt that Amelia caused Justin. There’s a secret that they are both hiding from each other that could change everything. Once that is out of the bag, will it be all rainbows and unicorns for them, or a tragic end of the friendship they once had? With the passion the two share running hotter than either imagined, both of them is going to have to compromise, or else run the risk of losing more than their hearts.
I truly adored ROOMHATE!!! I would immensely recommend this to readers who takes delight in reading friends-to-lovers books. Looking forward to reading Penelope Ward’s next project.
