This book had me biting my nails, covering my eyes, swooning and bawling . Losing someone you love is too much to endure. I don't think I'll ever be able to cope if I were in these character's shoes. The sacrifices one had to suffer just to keep the loved one safe, while you are paying for the pain you think you caused, was horrible. Once I started reading I could not put it down for the life of me. I just stayed in bed and turned from page to another. Finished in one sitting and I would read it again if I could.
Kellan was Aidric's bestfriend. Kellan did everything he thought he could to care of his best friend. He knew that he's a drug addict. He blames himself for Adric's tragic death. To make matters worse is that he up and left while knowing for a fact that he promised his best friend that he would always be there to protect Phoenix. Who is Adric's younger sister. Eight years later he's back and surprised to see how much Phoenix has grown into a gorgeous young woman. Once he laid his eyes on her, he could not stop.
As for Phoenix, she is the manager of a bar. She has her own place and pretty much have everything figured out. Aside from the death of her brother, of course. It seems that some people are hiding something very important from her. Her brother was everything to her. And when he died, it's like she died along with him. The man she expected to be there for her when this tragedy happened was the last person she expected to run away. He left and never looked back. She needed Kellan desperately and she looked up to him. She thought he was dead since no one has heard anything about him. When he suddenly showed up without letting his family know that he was back in town, all hell broke loose. Kellan's younger brother is very close to Phoenix did not hold anything in when he laid eyes on his brother. Kellan's absence has been replaced by Kade. Kade always wanted more than friendship with Phoenix but with everything being so chaotic, she is nothing but confused.
A sexual relationship begins between Kellan and Phoenix that was so hot and steamy, but are the feelings mutual, or is Kellan just keeping his promise to keep tabs on Phoenix to make sure she's safe? Or the feelings go deeper than what he thought? I love alpha men, and Kellan and Kade made it even more interesting. The push and pull between the two brothers involving Phoenix had me pulling my hair. Kellan and Kade are keeping secrets that could break Phoenix's heart. Will Phoenix be able to forgive the brothers who are so dear to her, when she finds out the truth about her brother's death? Everything finally comes to a head in a very explosive ending. You won't want to miss this book. I'm a fan of Victoria Ashley and I just can't seem to stop myself from coming back for more.

The ending? The ending left me satisfied with so much love for all. I am hoping to read more about Kade, Jen and Tyler. Love them.
