Melanie Harlow has been on my book radar after I fell madly in love with her books last year. Honestly it’s not that hard to fall for her stories as she constantly brings forth a fresh modern perspective on romance.And in her newest release, After We Fall, Melanie breathes life into a second chance romance that will set your hearts racing like a wildfire.
A broody, sexy, and broken hero. Yes! Do I need to say anymore? Let’s face it, those three characteristics are my bread and butter especially when it comes to a second chance romance. And then Melanie tops it off with a lovable, feisty, sassy heroine. Yes, this book had all the elements of an epic love story.
An opposite attract storyline that is deeply rooted with a emotional gripping aspect is what truly makes this book stand out. Melanie Harlow didn’t need to woo us with flowery words but she had us with her original prose that strikes the heart. Real emotional feelings that makes you feel for the characters. She allowed readers to feel for a broken man grieving for a wife that he lost. The ghost is something that every reader can relate. The ghost doesn’t have to be a deceased person but could also represent a past. And with her stunning prose, Melanie showcased a love story of a man learning to face his ghost and accept the things that he can’t change. But one thing Jack can change is the opening of his heart to one city girl that will knock his world on it’s axis.
The beauty of reading a Melanie Harlow is getting lost in the journey of these characters, embracing their flaws and vulnerabilities. I loved that everything about Jack and Margot was laid bare. Nothing was hidden. Everything was exposed. The sexual tension. The chemistry. The love. And most importantly the fall. So all there is left to say, go fall for this literary canvas of beauty, pain, truth, passion, second chance and love.
