Shattered Blue is told through the points of view of the 3 main characters Noa, Callum,

and Judah for most of the story. The story is split into 3 parts for each of the main character, and I was pleasantly surprised with how eloquently the story was told especially through Noa’s point of view. Noa is a writer and a poet, and the way Lauren Bird Horowitz told the story was as if you were seeing it through a writer or poet’s eyes. I especially enjoyed Noa’s poems in the story and they were blended into the story flawlessly.

This book starts out in Noa’s point of view after her sister Isla’s death. They used to go to

a boarding school together, but as a result of Isla’s death Noa commutes from home to school. She has two friends, Miles and Olivia, that essentially help her cope and look after her. Callum later appears and they go through the conflict of Callum not being able to touch her because he steals her energy or light, as stated in the book. After that is resolved, fall in love freely and it just makes sense that they are together. Suddenly, Judah emerges and shakes the whole situation up. I am honestly not a fan of love triangles, but this particular one creeps up on you in a way that isn’t too typical.

The ending was very climactic, but was left with a cliffhanger.

There were a lot of plot- twists in this story. Although I enjoyed this story very much, the only part that did not seem necessary were the parts that were told through the point of view by Miles, Olivia, and Thorn. There were times where I was confused by the constant juggle of point of views in the ending portion of the story, and I think it would have flowed better if the points of views continued in only the three main character’s. Overall I enjoyed Shattered Blue, and cannot wait for the sequel!
