Whenever Livy visited the hospital there was always this handsome stranger named Meyer, who listened and watched her. One day Meyer finally goes up to her, on her time of need and promised her lots of adventures. Knowing she had nothing to lose and needing an escape from reality, she goes with Meyer to his chosen place and played a game. This game became the norm whenever Meyer came to her and the adventure was never ending. Anytime Meyer was around, he made her forget how upset she really was. Meyer made her want so much, but anytime he's around questions always came up that could never be answered.
When Meyer showed her a world she only imagine, she was more than happy to stay there forever. Then to top it off, she was given another chance to be with the most precious person in the world to her. Last but not least, she gets to be with Meyer the boy that made her feel again. But is she ready to leave the life she has, for this new beautiful world every kid could only wish for? Read and find out.

I love this new modern reimagining Peter Pan, it was full of fun and adventures. Of course, my favorite is the love that Livy and Meyer found with each other. An innocent love, with their innocent hearts, that I couldn’t help but fall in love with the Story of the boy who can fly, all over again.

The story started out at a slow pace, but now that I finished the book, the slow beginning was absolutely necessary. We get to know about Livy’s life, family, and grief. Shari Arnold portrayed Livy's feelings so clearly that she made me feel the grief that Livy was going through. After Jenna passed away, Livy coped by reading stories to children at the hospital where Jenna used to stay. She would sometimes notice a boy listening in the doorway while she read. One day, after reading the story Peter Pan, she decides to follow him, and learns that his name is Meyer.
Meyer is the “Peter Pan” of this story, and who shows up when Peter Pan does? Captain Hook of course. James Hale appeared around the same time Livy met Meyer as a temporary replacement to her original tutor. These two men changed Livy's life. Meyer was the mysterious boy that provided Livy with a distraction, but James was a reminder that she had to continue living without her sister. My feelings towards James and Meyer shifted A LOT throughout the story. James was suspicious from the start, and Meyer was the kind of boy that your parents told you to stay away from, but hung out with anyway. Their true intentions were later revealed and they become more than just a tutor and a boy. In fact, all of the characters go through their own journey, especially Livy.
This book dealt with misfortune, grief, and moving on in a unique way. It was not only a romance novel or tragedy, it was about acceptance and growing up. The Peter Pan references made this book even more enjoyable, and Neverland wasn’t just a place where children would never age. Whether you are fan Peter Pan or not, the story will hook you (no pun intended), especially in the second half of the book. If you enjoy a slow paced book, but with an appealing story then I highly recommend this book.
