In this intricate and beautiful tale that brings four generations of women together, Sarit brings forth a compelling and thought-provoking story. She allows her readers to embrace and feel for her complex characters. One of my favorite things about reading historicals is that readers are transported back into a time period, and in the case for this book, readers are placed in the backdrops of Jerusalem where you are consumed with the sight and sounds, or the political upheavals during that time. And in The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem, readers are taken on a journey where a young daughter pieces together her family history and comes to term with the startling revelations of why the generation of women in her family act the way they do.
The Beauty Queen of Jerusalem is one of those reads that leaves you captivated. This book is rich with passion, sensuality, secrets, and history. In this intricate tale where past and present collide, Sarit Yishai-Levi will douse her readers with an abundance of raw emotions. Be prepared to get dazzled, haunted, and breathless as this book packs a punch of depth and honesty.
