SYNOPSIS:
While the movie played on in the background I studied him, even with my eyes focused unseeing at the bright screen in front of us. I studied his breaths--low and even. I studied his movements, how he shifted once in a while, uncrossed and recrossed his legs. Reached up to scratch his jaw, the sound of his short nails against the light growth there nearly silent except that it echoed around me as if we were in a cavern.
I was frozen, stock-still, and I could hardly breathe.
I didn’t know when I’d gone from feeling nothing but utter terror in his presence to feeling something else entirely, but I had. At some point over the last four days, I had. I’d stopped looking at him as the scary man who’d kidnapped me and started to see him as Ghost. Just Ghost.
Except Ghost wasn’t who he was anymore. Not to me. Not after the small things he’d done for me--seemingly inconsequential things, but nothing was inconsequential with him. He did every- thing with purpose. Ghost, in name, was the man who’d brought me here. Ghost was the man who’d lived a hard life and had all the wrong contacts and whose job was outside the law. Ghost wasn’t the man who offered me comfort and took care of me when I was sick, who drew pictures of me that made me feel beautiful for the first time in my life.

Captive by Brighton Walsh is the first book that I have read from this author and I am officially hooked with her writing and storytelling. Ms. Walsh has written a sexy, sensual, captivating romance that was so engrossing and compelling that I could not put this book down. She was able to blend and weave a beautiful romance of two strangers who came from two different worlds. One of privileged and one born on the wrong side of the tracks. But one thing that they have in common is their broken home life. In this beautiful twisted suspenseful romance, will their love set them free of their broken past?
"I saw it and yet I was helpless to stop it, trapped in a life I never wanted because I loved someone who didn't love me back."
