Long Shot tells the story of underground MMA champion Josh McRae, and the girl he fell for years ago--his stepsister, Dr. Natalie Shaw. In his eyes, she's the smart, sexy, cunning country girl he could never have. That's why he kissed her on the night after her father's funeral. And that's why he left right after for a drunken night on the beach and never came back to explain himself. As much as Josh "Long Shot" McRae secretly adores Natalie, she hates him and everything he stands for. And hell, she hates him worst of all because he broke her heart right before she left for medical school. Now she's back in her small island town, and she hasn't seen or heard from Josh in three years. She assumes he's been fighting, fucking, and drinking--the things he best at. And she ain't trying to get in touch, even though she knows he's only ten miles away on the peninsula. When he shows up on her doorstep one night with a dislocated shoulder, a cut that goes down to the bone, and a look on his face like he wants to take a bite out of her... she can't just turn him away, can she? Nat and Josh end up in a whirlwind romance--and an adventure--that neither of them ever planned for. But maybe it's just the kind of long shot that they both need.

Lexi Whitlow is a small-town girl from Virginia. She spent her early years growing up between Virginia and North Carolina, playing in the dark rich dirt of Eastern North Carolina at her granddaddy's farm. She's a Southern girl at heart, and she spends her days chasing her five-year-old and writing her ass off. She holds a master's degree in English literature, and her mom is so proud she's "using her degree." (Her mom is actually very proud, but she's not allowed to read any of Lexi's books.) Lexi harbors a not-so-secret love for bad boys. She loves fighters, tough-as-nails cowboys, bikers, and criminals. Her husband is a scientist... but he has the heart of a bad boy for sure.
