Hello everyone! My name is Danny Mabie. I’m the husband of the one and only M. Mabie.
M. Mabie, or Mo as some of you may know her, and I have been together for fifteen years this November.
In the beginning, I was the inspired drummer chasing the dream with my band. We got the opportunity to tour the United States a few times with different groups. In those days, I set off on my journey and Mo stayed behind, working, keeping up with the bills and taking care of everything else—best she could. Times got tough, but we managed to push through. We never got a deal, but we had a great time and gained one hell of an education.
Fast forward a few years later, Mo and I got married on a beautiful 70 degree November day.
Mo has always been interested in reading, whether it be comedy, romance, etc… and by 2012 she was devoting a lot of time to these books. Some would ask, “Why is she reading so much? We never see her.” It was mostly our neighbors in our quaint little village where we bought our first home.
Deep down, I knew something was brewing in her pretty little head. I was right.
Mo approached me later that year with her idea for a review blog for all of the books she’d been reading. She was going to call it Fifty5cent Book Blog, which had special meaning to us. An inside joke or sorts. I was all for it.
Soon authors were asking for her reviews, and readers were buying books from her recommendations. All the while, I knew she wasn’t just doing the blog and reviewing, there was an algorithm being built in her head. She was doing her homework.

In late 2013, she said, “Danny, I’m going to write my first novel.” And, there it was. Fade In came out the following spring. Coming from a musical background and having released albums, I looked at Fade In as her freshman release. It was her baby, and if nothing else, it would be a foot in the door.
Not long after the release of Fade In, she started her soon to be sophomore release… this is where shit got real—so to speak. The spare bedroom in our 140 year old home was converted into an office. Words started flying. She would work forty hours, then come home and write all night. Some men would get disgruntled about not spending evenings, nights, and weekends with their other half. But I knew she had an agenda and a lot of things she needed to get out on paper.
I made a deal with Mo, just like she had with me when I went on tour. It was my turn to take care of things. The shopping. The cleaning. The yard. Our dog, June. Not that they were her duties, but whatever I could do to help—I wanted to do.

A few months later, Bait was released and our lives changed…for the better.
Mo asked me to attend Wicked Book Weekend with her in Ft. Lauderdale in early 2015. This was my first signing. My first time being an author’s husband. An author’s assistant. I was a little nervous about what to expect. Readers started to file in and a young woman approached Mo’s table.
“Oh my God. Oh my God. You’re not supposed to be here. I love you!” the girl screamed.
Who in the hell was I sitting next to? A Beatle?
After the young lady got her photo taken with my wife and went on to the next table, I looked at Mo and said, “This is it. You’ve found your calling.”

Mo went on a writers retreat one weekend, it was cold and rainy at home. I decided while she was gone I was going to see what all the fuss was about. On my way home from work, I grabbed a six pack of craft brew, then sat down with her reference copy of Bait.
I found myself going to bed about 2:00 a.m. thinking who in the hell is Mo Mabie?
She’s a genius.
The next morning, after a getting a cup of coffee, I dove right back in. I was hooked. I screamed. I wanted to throw the book across the room. I laughed my ass off. I couldn’t stop texting her, asking questions about this or that. This was the best book I’d ever read!
I finished just about the time she walked back through the door. This was what I told her.
‘You’re incredible. Thanks for the roller-coaster ride. Now get your ass up there and finish Sail!” I was just like everyone else.
And here we are. M. Mabie is still pushing out books, her fifth just released—Roots and Wings. The last few years have been great. Meeting new people. Traveling. And, I’ve met a lot of other bad ass author husbands. I’m looking forward to it all.

Thanks for letting me ramble. I hope to meet many of you this year!
{{Hi. This is Mo. Hahaha. After I read what Danny wrote, I thought it would be fun to ask him some questions about what some of the other stuff was like. So, I interviewed him.}}
Me: Hello, Danny. Thanks for agreeing to this interview.
Danny: *looks at me like I’m crazy, and full of shit* Come on.
Me: Okay. Okay. Do you think romance is important?
Danny: Yes. Great romance will make a relationship last.
Me: Have you ever been embarrassed by what I’ve written?
Danny: Never. One of the reasons I fell in love with you is because of your sense of humor. Your way with words is priceless.
Me: Do people ask you if you’ve done all of the stuff in my books.
Danny: Sometimes. I’ll have a laugh and say, “Maybe not all of it, but she got the idea somewhere.”
Me: Do you think my sex scenes are hot? From a male’s perspective?
Danny: The few that I’ve read are hot. You can paint a vivid picture, especially in a male frame of mind. Not necessarily Penthouse Letters, but damn close.
Me: If you could read another author’s work, one that you know, who would you read?
Danny: I’ve met quite a few in the past year or so and had a good time getting to know them. Aly Martinez, Chelle Bliss, Tara Sivec and Pepper Winters to name a few. All four are great people, but different personalities.
Me: Are you an alpha male?
Danny: Not really. I suppose I have my moments, but I’m too lax to be the alpha.
Me: What is an HEA?
Danny: It’s a Happily Ever After.
Me: And a TBR?
Danny: It’s a To Be Read list.
Me: How about a blurb?
Danny: It’s the context on the back of a book that will give an idea of what the book is about. Sparks the interest of a new reader.
Me: Do you believe in love at first sight?
Danny: Yes, when I first glanced at you I fell in love.
Me: *swooning* Do I do anything funny when I’m deep in the writing cave?
Danny: Not necessarily when you’re writing, but in the plotting stage can be quite humorous. Hair in a top-knot. “Sorry I’m late. Didn’t want to come” t-shirt, yoga pants, headphones on. All the while singing while you make coffee. The random texts while you’re writing can be funny, too. “Ravioli, Red Bull, Pringles and Beer.”
Me: What is the best part about being married to an author?
Danny: The random conversations. They could be about the plot or the business aspect. Never a dull moment. I enjoy watching people meet you out at signings and seeing their reactions after they’ve read your books.
Me: Okay. I think that’s all. Thank you, Danny.
Danny: Sure. Thanks for having me take part.
