ARC given by author in exchanged for an honest review.

Alex Crossman is a hockey player who hates being a hockey player. It was just something that was forced into him by his father and it ends up being the only thing he can do, so he sticks it out. And what he does with his money is that he saves every dime so when the time comes that hockey won't be for him any longer, he'll be able to take care of himself. He has commitment issues. He's scared of getting too close because of the repercussions in the long run.

Sutton doesn't have much growing up and until now, she manages. She's a Drug Counselor. The reason why she chose this career was because of her biological father. She wanted to change people's lives. She hated what she saw growing up and hated that it hurt her mother so much. That was the past, but now she is lucky to have such loving step-dad and a baby brother.

Alex is being pulled into this uncharted territory and he tried to deny it. BUT how long can this denial go on? Prolonging the need they both have for each other made it an even hotter read for me. I could not put this book down and finished it in one sitting. I fell in love with both Alex and Sutton. They both had a bad upbringing, but it is up to them to rise above it and move forward. Will Alex be strong enough to fight the attractions he feels for Sutton? Will Sutton understand the mixed emotions that Alex is presenting?
This book made the top of my 2014 list. I would read it again, no doubt about it. I LOVE YOU ALEX!!! SAWYER did an awesome job creating this HOT HOCKEY jock! A MUST READ!

Alex sexy as hell hockey player with a mouth. Best know as a real a**hole by not only his teammates, but his fans. Alex is the best of the best of the players, but he also is a man who despised the game. The game is all he knows, but he hates it with all he heart. The day he met Sutton, was the day his whole life changed.
The day they met Alex tried to pick her up, but she politely turned him down knowing what he was really after. Sutton was attracted to Alex right when he walked in for their meeting, I mean who wouldn’t be. He was sexy as hell and hot as f***. Then she finds out he's the guy who she is suppose to be meeting with half an hour ago, for their business meeting for the Anti-Drug Outreach Program. She wasn’t happy with him and his cockiness, but at least he was brutally honest. That day was the beginning of the end of the Alex that everyone knew.
After that day, Alex didn’t show up to their next meeting instead he sent her a ticket to their next game. Sutton went even though she didn’t know anything about hockey. Not a thing, she came into the game as a hockey virgin. By the end of the game with the help of next Monica who was sitting next to her, she learned that she was now obsessed with Hockey. She learned all she could about the game. Meeting with Alex became frequent and when he wasn’t in town, they texted each other. When he's away, Sutton would watch the game on tv and sends Alex a text right after the game. She would always tell him how good he was and how much she enjoyed watching the game. Alex enjoyed their conversation and how excited Sutton was about Hockey. She asked him a lot of questions about hockey and Alex was more than happy to answer everyone of them. He was surprised how much he enjoyed their conversation and how long he stayed on the phone with her with the casual conversation. He knew then that there was something more between them two and he was more than happy to explore what it is.
Sutton made Alex feel alive and being around her was always his happiest times. Because of Sutton, Alex started loving, Hockey like he should. Anytime Alex had his moments, Sutton would always understand. She was always so understanding to him, even when he was closed off. But when Alex past started creeping out of him, he was scared of what it would do to him and Sutton. She tried to get him to share his past, but he always changed the subject. The more Alex kept his past hidden, the more he tore himself away from Sutton.
Will Alex let his past ruin what he and Sutton has?
Or will he face it head on and share everything with Sutton?
Read and find out.
This is the first book I read about Hockey players and I so enjoyed it. Not only is Alex supersweet, he is a very loving guy who would do anything for the person he loves. <3 Can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
