Sawyer Bennett...if you are reading this review, I just want to start off and say thank you for writing a kick ass heroine. I may have a girl crush on Roberta Kate Francis.
I unquestionably loved Zack by Sawyer Bennett. ZACK is the second book that I have read from Ms. Bennett. And when I first read her novella in The Night Shift Anthology, I was hooked with her writing and was beyond excited to read another book from her. And let me tell you, she does not disappoint her readers with ZACK. The writing and storytelling was one of those books that you had to get lost in. I was completely engrossed with the emotional torment of Zack. Ms. Bennett was able to consume her readers in the encumbered emotional journey of a man learning to come to acceptance of his own torment of guilt and remorse, and finding his own personal light in his darkness. And his light and hope came in the form of a woman who awakened his heart. A woman who challenged him. A woman who brought laughter with her cheesy moments. A woman who made him see that LOVE is standing right in front of him.

Guilt. That five letter word has the power to destroy and crush you emotionally and physically whether you deserve it or not. It can be a burden that can haunt you from truly living. And for Zack Grantham, his guilt was slowly crushing him from living and accepting the death of his girlfriend Gina, the mother of his son, Ben. For Zack, he feels responsible for her death and that anguish consumed him like venom. Four months had passed after her death and Zack is living in a state of numbness, anger, regret, and remorse. When it was time for him to get back on track on his hockey career, he needed to find a nanny to watch over his son. We all know the saying when one door opens, another opens. And for Zack, the door to bring him out his darkness came in the form of a beautiful, goofy, nerdy and sassy nanny, Roberta Kate Francis aka Kate.
Kate's bright and sparkly personality is the antithesis of Zack. She was someone who challenged him and made him see that she will not cower to his coarse personality. There was no denying it that the darkness that consumed Zack was slowly fading when Kate was constantly reminding him that he is not responsible for Gina's death since it was an accident. Yes, it was a tragic accident but it was an accident nonetheless that Zack must learn to accept that he can't burden himself with the what if question scenarios.
Emotionally Zack was burdened and crushed with guilt but physically was attracted to Kate. He wanted her. He wanted sex to erase the pain and Kate was the only woman who awakened and stirred something in his life. Right off the bat, Zack made it known that his physical relationship with Kate was just sex and he couldn't offer her more. Kate knew what she was getting into when she started off this sexual relationship with Zack. It would be their personal secret. But what happens when the lines of physical and emotional connections gets blurred? Will they able to stay within the lines or will Zack skate across the lines and realize that his second chance at happiness and love is Kate? Or will Zack's guilt of replacing Gina be his downfall? Can Kate make Zack see he is worthy to love and live again?

The sexual chemistry between Zack and Kate was HOT!!! It seriously would have you melting. What I love about this book is how true and raw, Zack Grantham is. Yes, he may come off across as an asshole to some but that was not the case for me. He was a man who was hurting and I totally understood his emotional torment. And if I was to really think about it and was in his shoes, I would have behaved the same way Zack did. The raw vulnerability that Ms. Bennett was able to present in the story line stole and gripped my heart. It allowed me as a reader to be fully immersed into his emotional and touching journey of living and finding love. And as for Kate, I have nothing but high praises for Ms. Bennett as she wrote one of my favorite heroines. I absolutely adore Kate and her vibrant personality. I loved that she was not weak but one of those heroines who will steal your heart instantly. She was truly the light in Zack Grantham's life.
All I can say is that the writing was superb and the story telling was riveting. And Sawyer Bennett will have you enamored with such a beautiful tale of hope, second chances of life and love. So if you want to read a book that intertwines romance and encompasses a journey of heart then Zack is the book for you.

Kate, a good girl who didn't have anything handed to her on a silver platter. She lived on her friend's couch just for her to be able to finish school. She's flat broke and was not able to afford to buy her cap and gown. She did not get to walk to receive her diploma for her BA. She's given an opportunity to become a nanny for a hot hockey player Zack. Being hired as a live in nanny and living under the same roof with a walking sex on a stick is going to be tough for Kate to ignore the fact. She's one humorous and nerdy girl, who wants nothing but to keep Ben safe. She fell in love with Ben the minute she meets the little guy. BUT the only problem is that she has her eyes on Zack.

Zack is grieving of a loss of his girlfriend Gina from a tragic accident, who is also the mother of his adorable son Ben. He is a devoted father and will go to extreme just to protect his son. I fell in love with him because of how passionate he is with his son. He will drop everything for his little boy. He feels guilty about the accident and how now his son has to live with the fact that his mother is never coming back. Now, that he's going to have some away games, he needs the extra help to care for Ben. His sister Delaney chose the perfect nanny his son could ask for.

Dealing with loss and trying to move on won't be easy. For Zack, it's a lot of weight on his shoulders. Being a single parent, as a hockey player having to travel for the team's away games, has taken a lot in him. Who else could possibly be there to help Zack? The one and only Kate. I love how she is with Ben. The chemistry between Ben and Kate was astounding. It's like they were made for each other. Like a mother and son type of chemistry. As for Zack and Kate, they start getting to know each other and makes a deal that could maybe, just maybe the one thing that will help Zack accept the new chapter of his life and his son Ben.
I have read the Cold Fury Hockey, books one and two, and this by far is the one I truly enjoyed the most. Sawyer Bennett, knows just how to pull at her readers and will have you turning from page after page. I'm looking forward to Ryker's story.

This story had my feelings all over the place, the excitement of the very hot first kiss to their final moment. This made me laugh out loud, made me feel lost, excited, basically sweating bullets for the next act. You name it, I might have felt it, that’s how good this story is. This story will give you a whirlwind of emotions.

Zack was messed up and trying to get his life together. After a tragic accident, left him as a single dad…his emotional baggage was too heavy even for him. Living life everyday, questioning himself what if, what he should do and shouldn’t do. But when his new nerdy nanny broke through his walls, not only is his son loving Kate…but his heart is also going somewhere he doesn’t think he's ready for. Which left with his hot and cold moods towards Kate.
I love Kate’s character, I can definitely say she is one of my top favorite heroines. Yes she’s a little bit of a nerd, but she has such a great bubbly personality that any guy would be crazy not to love her. She is a very strong woman, that will make a joke out of nothing… just to get a laugh out to you.
Zack and Kate’s relationship first started with just sex, but the more time they spent together the more both their feelings got tangled. With Zack’s denial about how much he really cares for Kate and Kate heart in danger of being broken, will they both figure out what’s really going on before it’s too late? Read and find out.
This is by far my favorite Bennett Sawyer book, with such a strong heroine like Kate, it can’t be anything less than great. The chemistry between Zack and Kate are off the roof and wow can Sawyer Bennett write a sex scene. Every time Zack and Kate got together, the sex was steaming hot. The sex is so hot, that you may just need a cold shower after reading it.
I am so in love with this book. Zack and Kate = hot. #mustread
