When you think hockey romance, automatically Toni Aleo comes to mind and so if you combine hockey and a second chance storyline then you know this book will score major points with me! With her staple of knowing what moves to make, character developments and banter, I definitely I knew Face-Off at the Altar would be one entertaining read!
Face-Off at the Altar is one of those reads that can be read as a standalone so if you haven’t been following the series, it’s no big deal because Toni Aleo did a great job in providing all the right information readers needed to know of secondary key characters.
Markus Reeves is a hockey player who had big dreams of making it to the pros and when he thought he had his shot, he sucked big time. For quite some time, he did his time in the minor league and when his shot to finally get called up to join the majors, he knew he had to change his attitude and the way he plays the game. But what Markus never expected was to face the biggest face-off of his life, his former girlfriend, Mekena Preston.
Mekena Preston knows heartbreak and pain. Hell, she firsthand saw it when Markus and the person she should be able to trust broke her faith. And so when Mekena's career is about to take off, she is presented with one hurdle, Markus. As Mekena is the photographer to Markus’s friends wedding, they are forced to interact and see each other on a daily basis due to the wedding events. But what happens when the truth of what really happened that fateful night comes into play, will Markus and Mekena be facing off in the altar or will they be walking hand in hand? So can two strong willed and stubborn individuals discover that their second chance at love, forgiveness and life is this moment in time?
If you are a fan of second chance romance with a side of angst, drama, banter, and friendship then Face-Off at the Altar might be the book for you. Toni Aleo did a great job in capturing the different ranges of emotions as she allowed readers to feel for her characters from disappointment, regret, love, heartbreak, and of course a sense of hope. So if you are ready for one love story that will have you have eager for two old lovers to face off and discover second chances do exist then this book is for you.
