Evangeline lived a long fulfilling life. Loving mother and wife, she had everything she could wish for…until a tragic car accident took it all away from her.
Awakening in a new world with the body of a young woman, Evangeline doesn’t remember anything about her life, not even her own name. Luckily she has godparents to help guide her in this new society of the dead. As she struggles to fit in, deep inside, she can sense something is missing, a part of her that she can’t recall. When a mysterious man claims he can help get her memory back if she agrees to keep their nocturnal meetings a secret, she can’t refuse. Everything about him screams trouble, but she can’t seem to stay away. Every moment spent with him makes her feel alive again.
Is she really prepared to unveil her past completely, from beginning to end? Everything is not as it seems in her new found home, and her new life may also end in tragedy.
Rest in fear, Evangeline
This is a debut novel by Ingrid Nickelsen. It was a real surprise for me, because I really didn't know what to expect. This is one of those stories that will make you think. If you don't pay attention to everything you can easily get lost, but I loved it. The book has a new and different take on Life After Death.
This book starts up with husband and wife having just another regular day, about to leave to visit family. Then it jumps to young Evangeline in another world, a world where she doesn't have memories of anything about herself, not even her own name. With the help of her godparents, she learns to live in the new world that is so different from what she thought life after death would be.
On her first night in the new world, she meets a mysterious handsome guy named Will. For some reason, even though she had only met him, she felt a connected to him right away. She trusted him with her life and she wondered why. Will promises her that he would help her remember, if she does what he says. Every night that they spend together, the more intrigue she becomes. For some reason Will only comes to see her at night, but she enjoyed every moment they spend together. Until one day she realized she's falling for Will, that she cannot see her world without him in it.
Every day that passes, she finds out more about the world that she's in, that nothing is as it seems. Which she finds out the hard way, witnessing two ghostly figures turning someone into ashes. The only thing that keeps her going, is knowing that Will is around. That no matter how bad her day might have been, Will always make everything better.
Will Evangeline and Will live happily ever after?
Or will this new world tear them apart?
Read and Find Out.
