The Wishing Place was magical. You went to sleep and you could be there, if it chose to take you. On those lucky nights you could do anything you wanted and have anything you could think to ask for. You could even see the future. But what if you had to wait 16 years for the vision to become reality?

Valerie Porter was a lonely little girl. Her world fell apart when Granny passed away and her parents' troubled marriage ended in a bitter divorce. Her only solace lay in Granny's fairy tales and the secret Granny shared with her alone - the secret of The Wishing Place.

Granny said what The Wishing Place showed was real. She promised Valerie that there was true love in the world waiting for her. Unfortunately, a promise wasn't much to hold on to when Valerie became an unwelcome stepchild.

One night, Valerie asked The Wishing Place to show her something special - something really important. What she got was an eight-year-old boy named Nickolas Rossi who was everything she could want in a friend. But was he just a dream or could he fulfill Granny's promise and make happily ever after a reality?

This book starts with 8 yr old Nick and Valerie meeting in a magical place called The Wishing Place.
Where once they fall asleep, they could be at the place in all white, if it chooses to take them both.

Valerie was a very pretty lonely little girl, that had a very troubled life after her Granny passed away. Her parents ended up divorcing and both ended up getting remarried. Her mother is awful, while her dad is just clueless. Granny was her rock before she passed, but before Granny died, she shared the secret of The Wishing Place with Valerie. The Wishing Place became Valerie's happy place, especially after Granny shared with Val, that whatever future The Wishing Place shows , will never change. That the future that shows is real and that her true love is waiting for her when she gets older.

One night Valerie wish for someone important and Nick showed up, It was the first time they met. Anytime they are in The Wishing Place, they can ask for anything they want. What they have learned is to never ask where each other is from or the place kicks them back to reality. At times they would meet up every night and other times it would take days or weeks or months, before they get to be around each other again. Months, years pass... Nick and Val became close. They became best friend, they told each other everything. Nick specially was a great listener and friend. Anytime Val is down from her messed up life, Nick would always cheer her up. When they got older and older their feelings for each other became stronger and stronger. Then one day The Wishing Place showed them their future and they couldn't wait to get there. At the same time it got harder and harder for them, because all they wanted to be was together and that couldn't happen until they were in their 20s. They always reminded each other to never give up, that they love each other and they will be together one day.

Will they wait for each other? Or give up on each other? Read it to find out.

I love this book, it is different from anything I have read before. Even though Valerie had a hard life, she stayed strong with Nick's help. She was never a whiny girl who blamed her life on her messed up parents. She was strong, sweet and caring. Her relationship with Nick has been so cute and sweet. When I was reading the book, I could not wait for them two to get together. Nick has been the sweetest guy ever, he was always there for Valerie no matter what, they love each other unconditionally. It's a really beautiful love story. When I did finish reading the book, I was left with wanting more. I felt like there was so much more to Valerie and Nick love story, so I am looking forward to the 2nd book. I also cannot wait to read more about Valerie's brother Tommy and her High School/College boyfriend Jack, who was also very likable and sweet character. Till then...
