Left a widow at the age of 31 raising three children under the age of seven, Abby Porter struggles to balance her life. With the help of her two best friends, Lexi and Derek, they try to help Abby cross off her list of things “THE NEW ABBY” wants to accomplish. The old Abby was a doormat and this new Abby wants to gain control of her life and happiness. One of the items on the list was to go to an Awakening concert. When Abby attends the meet and greet, she fortunately comes face to face with the lead singer, Alex Morgan. Sparks fly and instant attraction was palpitating between Alex and Abby. Soon Abby found herself being pursued by the tattooed rockstar. In the short amount of time they spent together, a physical and emotional connection was made. Unexpectedly, Abby and Alex found themselves falling in love. Will Alex be able to win Abby’s heart or will her fear of getting hurt put an abrupt halt to their relationship? And will Abby finally be able to cross off number 1 on her list?
What You Do To Me by Izzy Cullen was a quick read about love, life and second chances. I did enjoy the book but didn’t love the book as much as I wanted to. The biggest turnoff was Abby. At first, I liked her character but as I read further along she ruined the book for me. I found her character to be annoying, selfish, and always complaining. I wanted to like her but throughout the book, she went downhill for me. What made this book for me was the secondary characters, Lexi and Derek and of course the hero, Alex Morgan. Alex and Derek saved this book. Derek was the perfect best friend. He didn’t sugarcoat things that must be addressed to Abby. And I love that he adores and values his friendship with Abby. A big part of me, wished the second book was about Derek or another band member. Other than that, let me express my LOVE for Alex. He was the total package. He was understanding, patient, loving and sexy. For him to put up with with Abby’s indecisiveness, the man deserved a medal. Truly, he was the saving grace and lifeline of this book. He was able to finally make Abby realize what was standing in front of her. What You Do To Me reminds us all knowing a person is like music. What attracts us to them is their melody, and as we get to know who they are, we learn their lyrics.
