Blood to Dust by L.J. Shen is one of those literary masterpieces that consumes and leaves you utterly stunned with Shen’s deep, raw, poetic and magnetic prose. This is the first book that I have read from this author and it definitely won’t be the last.

“She’s aiming straight for my fucking heart, this chick. Shot after shot in the dark. And sooner or later, I know, even in the pitch black, she’s going to hit her target.”
Right off the pages, I was swept into a world where chaos, passion, darkness, hope, longing, and anger are gathered up like a storm waiting to strike down on it’s readers. This is not an ordinary romance. This is a story of survival, grit, and two broken souls finding the solace that they so badly need. It is a story of unlikely comfort and new beginnings. It is a story where each chapter, action, and words are meant to strip the reader’s raw emotionally so readers can relate to two flawed characters.
“We're polar opposites. He's peace looking for color, and I'm storm looking for serenity. And somewhere between my chaos and his peace, we found each other.”
Blood To Dust is a journey. A journey where captor and captive are unexpectedly thrown together in a whirlwind where two broken past are linked. Where darkness and storm are met with a flood of emotions. The connection between Nate and Prescott can’t be simply defined. It’s a connection that is beyond tangible and palpable. It is a connection that must be felt by the reader to understand the gravitational pull that they have for one another. Their love is gritty, raw, poignant, messy and yet so breathtakingly epic.

“The dust has settled over the blood we’ve shed.”
So if you have been following my reviews, I LOVE DARK READS. I love when an author can take you on a journey where there is nothing but to do but absorb every detail, emotion, and word the author throws at the readers. And L.J. Shen brilliantly did that as she exposed a story that is layered with so much depth and intensity. Ms. Shen allowed readers to feel the depravity, grittiness, and vulnerability of her characters. So if you are looking for a story that beautifully weaves a tragic past and passion, then look no further than this book. L.J. Shen has definitely grabbed my attention with this book and so if you are ready to be held hostage by her words and her characters then go read Blood to Dust. And just maybe this is one story where you want to feel the storm.
