Ummm...I honestly don't know where to begin or how should I start this review because I am still reeling on how epic this book was. Ricochet by Keri Lake was dark, gritty, raw, and violent. This book is not for the faint of heart. It is in your face bloody gruesome and raw. A tale of vengeance that will immediately take you down a dark path of revenge where there is only way out...death. In order to defeat a monster, one must become one. And so Keri Lake takes her readers down an epic gritty, raw suspenseful romance that will have you begging and craving for more.
"But that's what happens when you shoot at something impenetrable. It ricochets."
Nick Riley knows death. To experience loss and torment. He knows what is to have your life ripped out from you. He knew all these things because he lived it when he witnessed his wife and son being killed in front of him. And fast forward to three years later, Nick only wants thing. Vengeance. He wants the people who killed his family to pay and so begins a twisted tale of blood, revenge, passion, and a unforeseen gritty romance.

Michael Culling is Detroit's city Mayor. Culling is corrupt, cruel, and simply an evil bastard. He is a powerful man who controls the city and is behind the gang of contract killers called the "Seven Mile Crew," who happens to be the people responsible for the killing of Nick's family. Nick and his friend Alec have a plan to eliminate and kill everyone that played a part in his family's murder. And the first step to their plan is to kidnap Michael Culling's beloved wife, Aubree Culling.
Aubree Culling was living in hell. She didn't love Michael and wanted to be free from him but she couldn't escape from him. Simply, Michael loved and craved the control and power that he exerted on her. She was like a caged animal waiting to be set free. So what happens when Nick learns that Aubree is also just a victim of Michael, will Nick and Aubree find solace and comfort within each other as they try to execute his plan of vengeance? Will these two be able to face their past, demons, scars, and darkness in order to save one another?
“Cage a bird that once felt the wind through its feathers and the world beneath is feet, and you’d find that insane glint of hope in its eyes that enticed it to escape every time the door swung open. Even if it could no longer fly, it’d never stop vying for its freedom, and neither would I.”
In all honesty, I don't want to say much about this book because Ricochet needs to be read and experienced. This book was so much more than revenge; it's about healing, love, and second chances when you least expect it. I absolutely loved this book from Keri Lake because Ricochet felt like watching a movie play before my eyes. Every detail, words, action and emotions were felt throughout this book. Ricochet allowed readers like myself to FEEL. To feel the hurt, the sadness, the anger, the pain, the blood lust, the torments, the nightmares, and most importantly to feel the healing of two broken souls. Ricochet was a raw, poignant, tangible, and heart-pounding gritty romance read that will grip you to the core. This book is everything I wanted and craved for in a dark, gritty suspense. So if you are looking for a book that had every facets of everything that I craved for from intensity, heat, grit, and heart then I highly recommend Ricochet by Keri Lake. Ms. Lake will not disappoint you...trust me when I say this book is unforgettable.
