In this third installment to the Alpha's Heart Series, Bella Jewel introduces readers to a female bodyguard hired to protect a bad boy billionaire in Hard to Forget. Ms. Jewel intrigues readers with this unique premise of a female bodyguard named Delaney, who is working so hard to prove to herself and others that she is fit and right for this profession that has been mainly dominated by males. So when the opportunity to protect Jax Shields, a hotel billionaire, Delaney was more than excited to work on her first major assigned case but she gets a rude awakening when she discovers Jax is arrogant, pompous, and chauvinistic. Can Delaney prove to Jax that she can protect him from danger? Or will Jax constantly remind her that a woman can't do a man's job?
As much as I love and adore reading Bella Jewel's books, I found Hard to Forget to be just okay. I think the biggest factor for me not loving the book was the way Jax Shields was characterized. I couldn't for the life of me find his personality appealing. He was rude, arrogant, and chauvinistic. It was so hard to swoon for a dominating alpha hero who has this stubborn and set way of thinking. I think maybe I would have possible understand Jax's personality if the author explained what caused Jax to behave like that. And as for the chemistry of Jax and Delaney, it didn't feel as tangible and palpable. I'm so used to reading tangible passionate and deep connections from Bella Jewel and in this book, it lacked the sizzle for me to love Delaney and Jax.
